How to replace the alternator on an Audi 80?

I've noticed some strange noises coming from my Audi 80's engine and have been told by a mechanic that it may be due to a failing alternator. How can I replace it myself without having to take it to a mechanic?

You will need to first disconnect the battery and remove the serpentine belt. Then, unbolt and remove the old alternator and install the new one. Don't forget to reconnect the battery and test the new alternator before putting everything back together.
