How to fix power steering in an Audi 80?

My power steering has been acting up in my Audi 80 and I'm not sure what to do about it. The steering wheel feels heavier than usual and it's making a strange noise. I want to avoid taking it to a mechanic if I can fix it myself. Any advice would be appreciated!

First, check your power steering fluid levels. Low levels can cause issues with the steering wheel feeling heavy and making noise. If that doesn't fix the issue, it could be a problem with the power steering pump. It's best to have a mechanic look at it to properly diagnose and fix the issue.

It could also be an issue with the power steering belt. If it's worn or loose, it can cause issues with the power steering. Check the belt and replace if necessary. You can find tutorials online on how to do this on your specific Audi 80 model.

If the issue persists, it could be a problem with the power steering rack. This is a more complex fix and should be done by a professional mechanic. It's important to get it fixed as soon as possible to avoid any potential safety hazards on the road.
