How to diagnose and replace a failing alternator on the Audi 80?

I recently noticed my Audi 80's battery keeps dying even though it's relatively new. After doing some research, I suspect it could be an issue with the alternator. How can I confirm this and what is the process for replacing it?

To confirm whether it is indeed an alternator issue, you can test the voltage output of the alternator using a voltmeter. If the voltage is consistently below 14 volts, it's likely a failing alternator. As for replacing it, you'll need to first disconnect the battery, remove the old alternator, and then install the new one following the steps outlined in your Audi 80's manual.
