How to check the transmission fluid on my Audi 80?

I recently bought a used Audi 80 and I want to make sure the transmission fluid level is correct. What is the proper way to check the transmission fluid and what should I be looking for?

To check the transmission fluid on your Audi 80, start by making sure the engine is warm and the car is on a level surface. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick, which is usually near the back of the engine. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a paper towel.
