How do I troubleshoot the ignition system in my Audi 80?

My Audi 80 seems to have a problem with starting up. The engine turns over, but it won't start. I suspect it may be an issue with the ignition system, but I'm not sure how to troubleshoot it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

One common issue with the Audi 80's ignition system is a faulty ignition switch. Check to see if the electrical connections are clean and secure. You may also want to try using a spare key, as worn out keys can sometimes cause issues.

Another possibility is a bad ignition coil. Test the primary and secondary resistance with a digital multimeter. If the readings are outside of the specified range, the coil needs to be replaced.

You may also want to check the distributor cap and rotor for any signs of wear or damage. These components can become corroded or worn out over time, causing problems with the ignition system.
