How do I reset the maintenance light in my Audi A3?

I recently purchased an Audi A3 and the maintenance light has turned on. I want to know how to reset it without having to take it to a mechanic. Can anyone help me with this technical process?

The maintenance light can be reset by following a few simple steps. First, turn on the ignition without starting the engine. Second, press the reset button located on the instrument cluster.
