How do I reset the Audi A2's alarm system?

I accidentally triggered the alarm on my Audi A2 and now it won't shut off. How can I reset the alarm system without causing any damage?

To reset the alarm on your Audi A2, press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on your key fob simultaneously for 5 seconds. This should deactivate the alarm. However, if the alarm continues to sound, try disconnecting the negative battery cable for 10 minutes before reconnecting it.
