I just bought a used Audi and I'm not sure when the brakes were last changed. How can I tell if they need to be replaced?
ReplyAs a general rule, it's recommended to replace your brakes every 50,000 miles or once every 3 years, whichever comes first. However, if you notice any of the following signs, it's best to have them checked and possibly replaced sooner: - Grinding or squeaking noises when braking - Longer stopping distance - Soft or spongy brake pedal - Vibrations or pulsating when braking - Uneven wear on brake pads
Another way to check your brake pads is to look at the thickness of the actual pads. If they are less than a quarter of an inch thick, it's time to replace them. You can also visually inspect the rotors for any signs of damage or wear. Additionally, pay attention to how your car handles when you brake. If you feel any pulling to one side or your car seems to be vibrating, it could be a sign of worn out brakes.
