How do I change the transmission fluid in my Audi A3?

I recently purchased a used Audi A3 and I want to make sure I am properly maintaining it. How often should I change the transmission fluid and what is the best way to do it? I have some basic knowledge of car maintenance but I have never changed transmission fluid before.
