How can I check the alternator on my 1995 Audi 80?

I need to perform a check on the alternator of my 1995 Audi 80 to make sure it is functioning properly. I have basic knowledge of cars but have never done this before. Any tips or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

First, you will need to have a multimeter with you in order to properly test the alternator. Start by turning off the car and connecting the multimeter to the battery terminals. Then, start the car and rev the engine to around 2000 RPM. The multimeter should read between 13.8-14.4 volts if the alternator is functioning correctly.

If the multimeter readings fall below 13.8 volts or are fluctuating, it may indicate an issue with the alternator. Check all connections and cables for any loose or corroded parts. If that doesn't fix the issue, it may be time to replace the alternator.
