Why is there no all-electric version of the Audi A2?

Despite Audi's commitment towards electrification, including the introduction of the e-tron lineup, why was there never an all-electric version of the Audi A2?

Unfortunately, the Audi A2 was discontinued in 2005 due to low sales and high production costs. At that time, electrification was not yet a priority for most car manufacturers.

Even though the Audi A2 was known for its innovative design and lightweight construction, it was still a relatively expensive car to produce. An all-electric version would have increased production costs even further.
