Why is the Audi R8 suspension system called magnetic ride?

I've heard that the Audi R8 has a unique feature called magnetic ride for its suspension system. Can anyone explain the technical details behind its name and how it works?

The Audi R8's magnetic ride suspension system uses magnetorheological fluid in its shock absorbers to adjust damping characteristics based on road conditions. It's called 'magnetic' because the fluid contains tiny iron particles that react to an electromagnetic charge in order to change the fluid's viscosity.
