There are a few potential causes for a grinding noise when turning in your Audi 80. One possibility could be worn out wheel bearings, which can cause a grinding or growling noise. Another potential issue could be a damaged CV joint, which can also make a grinding noise when turning. I would recommend having a mechanic inspect your vehicle to determine the exact cause and provide a proper fix.

I had a similar issue with my Audi 80 and it turned out to be a problem with the power steering system. If your car is making the grinding noise when you turn the wheel at low speeds, it could be due to low power steering fluid or a faulty power steering pump. Check your fluid levels and if they are low, top them off. If the issue persists, it's best to have a professional check it out.

In addition to the potential causes mentioned by others, it's always a good idea to also check your tires and brakes. Worn out or unevenly worn tires can cause a grinding noise when turning, as well as worn out brake pads or rotors. I would recommend having your tires rotated and your brakes inspected and replaced if needed. This could potentially solve the issue and also ensure your car is safe to drive.
