Why is my 1992 Audi 80's engine making a rattling noise?

I recently purchased a 1992 Audi 80 and have noticed a rattling noise coming from the engine. It only seems to occur when the car is at idle and goes away when I accelerate. Has anyone experienced this before? What could be causing it?
