Why does the Audi 80's engine make a ticking noise at idle?

I recently purchased an Audi 80 and I've noticed that the engine makes a noticeable ticking noise at idle. It seems to go away once I start driving. Is this something I need to be concerned about?

The ticking noise at idle is most likely caused by a worn rocker arm or lifter. It's not something you should ignore, as it could lead to engine damage if left untreated.

I had the same issue with my Audi 80 and it turned out to be a faulty valve adjustment. Once I got that fixed, the ticking noise went away.

One possible cause of the ticking noise could be low oil pressure. You may need to have the oil pump checked and replaced if necessary.
