Why does my Audi engine make a ticking noise?

My Audi engine is making a strange ticking noise while idling. I've checked the oil and it seems to be at the right level. What could be the cause of this and how can I fix it?

The ticking noise could be caused by a faulty valve or lifter. It's important to get this checked by a mechanic as soon as possible to avoid any further damage to your engine.

S

Another possible cause for the ticking noise could be a loose fan belt. Have a mechanic take a look and tighten or replace the belt if necessary.

D

If the ticking noise only occurs when the engine is cold, it could be a sign of low oil pressure. Make sure to regularly check your oil levels and top up if necessary.
