Why does my Audi e-Tron lose battery range during cold weather?

I have noticed that when the temperature drops, my Audi e-Tron's battery range decreases significantly. Is this a common issue and how can I mitigate it?

Yes, this is a common issue with electric vehicles in general. The cold weather affects the performance and efficiency of the battery. To mitigate this, it is recommended to preheat your car while it is still plugged in, and to limit your use of the heater and seat warmers while driving to conserve battery.

I also experienced this with my e-Tron. One tip is to park your car in a garage or covered area to avoid the extreme cold temperatures. You can also try keeping your battery charged above 50% to help preserve range in colder weather.

I’ve found that using the eco-driving mode helps save battery in colder weather. It limits the acceleration and top speed, but it also conserves energy. You can also try charging your car at a higher temperature, using a garage or heated charging station.
