Why does my Audi A7 make a strange noise when I turn the steering wheel?

I just purchased a used Audi A7 and I've noticed that when I turn the steering wheel, there is a strange noise coming from under the hood. It almost sounds like a whining or scraping sound. What could be causing this and is it something I should be concerned about?

Hi Jasmine, it's likely that your Audi A7's power steering pump is failing. As for whether or not it's a cause for concern, it's always best to have it checked out by a professional mechanic. They can properly diagnose the issue and advise you on the best course of action.

Jasmine, make sure to check the power steering fluid level in your Audi A7. If it's low, it could be causing the noise you're hearing. If that's the case, simply topping off the fluid should solve the issue. However, if the fluid level is fine, it's best to have a mechanic take a look.

Hey Jasmine, I had a similar issue with my Audi A7 and it turned out to be a faulty belt tensioner. This is a relatively easy and inexpensive fix, so it's worth having it checked out by a mechanic. Don't wait too long, as a failing tensioner can cause further damage to your car's engine.
