Why does my Audi A5 make a grinding noise when braking?

I recently purchased a used Audi A5 and I've noticed that it makes a loud grinding noise when I brake. It only happens when I'm coming to a complete stop and it's quite concerning. What could be causing this noise and how can I fix it?

Your brake pads may be worn down and need to be replaced. This can cause a grinding noise when braking. I suggest taking your car to a mechanic to get it checked out.

It's possible that there could be debris or rust on your brake rotors causing the noise. Taking your car to a car wash or using a high pressure hose to clean off the rotors could solve the issue.

Make sure to check your brake fluid levels as well. Low levels can cause noise when braking. If the fluid is low, top it off and see if that solves the problem.
