Why does my Audi A2's engine make a ticking sound when idle?

I have noticed that my Audi A2's engine makes a ticking sound when it is idling. It seems to disappear when I start driving. What could be causing this issue?

The ticking sound you hear could be caused by a faulty valve lifter. It is responsible for opening and closing the valves in the engine and if it is damaged, it can create a ticking noise. It is best to have it checked and replaced by a mechanic.
