Why does my Audi A1 engine make a ticking noise when idling?

I noticed that my Audi A1's engine seems to make a ticking noise when idling. Is this normal or is something wrong?

The ticking noise is most likely coming from your engine's valve train. This is normal and is caused by the valves opening and closing rapidly. However, it is always a good idea to have a mechanic check it out just to be sure.
