I have noticed that whenever I make a right turn, my Audi 80 makes a clicking noise that seems to be coming from the front right wheel. It's only when I turn right, and it doesn't happen when driving straight or turning left. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?
ReplyIt's likely that the clicking noise is coming from a worn CV joint. This component allows the front wheels to transfer power from the engine while also being able to turn. Over time, the protective boot around the joint can become damaged, allowing dirt and debris to enter and damage the joint. It's important to have this fixed as soon as possible to avoid further damage and potential safety hazards.
Another possible cause could be a faulty wheel bearing. This can also cause a clicking noise when turning, and if left untreated, can result in a much more serious issue such as a wheel coming loose while driving. It's recommended to have the wheel bearings checked and replaced if necessary.
Before assuming it's a mechanical issue, check your tires for any foreign objects lodged in the tread. Sometimes small rocks or nails can cause a clicking sound when turning due to the friction between the tire and the object. If this is the case, simply removing the object should resolve the issue.
