Why did my Audi A5's engine light turn on after driving for a few miles?

I recently bought a used Audi A5 and after driving for about 10 miles, the engine light came on. What could be the reason for this and should I be concerned?

The engine light may have turned on due to a loose gas cap. Check to see if the cap is securely tightened. If not, simply tighten it and the light should turn off. If the light persists, it may be indicative of a larger issue.

A common reason for the engine light to turn on is a faulty oxygen sensor. This can affect the vehicle's fuel consumption and emissions, so it's important to address it as soon as possible. Have a mechanic run a diagnostic test to determine the exact cause.

The engine light can also come on as a result of a misfire in one of the cylinders. This can happen due to a variety of reasons, such as a faulty spark plug, ignition coil, or fuel injector. It's best to have a professional diagnose and fix the issue to prevent any potential damage to the engine.
