What is E-Tron technology in the Audi R8?

I've heard about E-Tron technology in the Audi R8, but I'm not sure what it is. Can you please explain it to me?

E-Tron is Audi's version of electric vehicle technology. It uses a combination of electric motors and a traditional gas engine to provide power and efficiency.
