I've heard that Audi A2's with CVT transmissions suffer from frequent jerking and loss of power. I want to know what the most common issues are and if there are any ways to prevent them.

The most common issue with the CVT transmission in Audi A2's is the failing of the transmission control module (TCM). It is recommended to have the TCM checked and replaced if necessary every 50,000 miles to prevent any further problems.
