First, make sure you have the necessary tools for the job such as a jack, lug wrench, and C-clamp. Then, locate the brake caliper and remove the bolts holding it in place. Slide out the old brake pads and replace them with new ones. Remember to also replace the wear sensor if necessary. Finally, reattach the brake caliper and test your brakes before driving.

Before beginning, be sure to park your car on a flat surface and engage the parking brake. Then, loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels before jacking up the car and removing the wheels completely. You may also want to loosen the brake fluid reservoir cap to prevent pressure build-up. Then follow the steps for replacing the brake pads as outlined in your Audi A1's manual.

Changing brake pads can be tricky, so if you're not confident in your abilities, it's best to take your car to a professional mechanic. They have the experience and tools to ensure the job is done correctly and safely. Don't put yourself or others at risk if you're not sure what you're doing.
