How do I check my engine oil in an Audi A1?

I have noticed my car running louder than usual and want to make sure my oil levels are good before taking it to a mechanic. How can I check it myself?

To check engine oil in your Audi A1, park on level ground and turn off the engine. Wait at least 5 minutes to ensure the oil settles and is cool enough to be safely measured.
